About Us

Who are Calvary Baptist Church?

  • We are a forgiven people who come together to learn more about the great God who has given us salvation, and to express our gratitude for that salvation in worship.  All are invited to join us, no matter your past or your current status.  We are convinced that the God who has filled our lives with purpose and joy can do the same for you as well.
  • We are a traditional, conservative Southern Baptist congregation in Ellinwood, Ks.

What can you learn with Calvary Baptist Church?

  • Children will learn that God has created a good world, that they are precious to God, and that God gave His Son, Jesus, so that they might be loved by God forever.
  • Youth will learn that God has a purpose for their life.  In following Christ and learning His teachings, they can be prepared for a good future along with strength to deal with the issues they face in daily living.
  • Young adults will learn the Biblical principles upon which to build a family that can weather the storms of life.  As they grow in faith, knowledge, and experience, they can guide their family to not be sidetracked by a society in which God’s principles are increasingly under attack.
  • Older adults will learn that God is still faithful and true.  The gospel they embraced perhaps decades ago is unchanged.  Salvation is still found by grace through faith.
  • All ages will be taught that life should be centered on God.  We must not allow the issues that arise in life to get our focus off of God.  We need to view and deal with life from the perspective of faith.  We CAN weather any crisis through the strength only God can provide.

  • Our services are open to anyone who desires to join us in worship.
  • Our worship is centered on the Scriptures – both Old and New Testaments.
  • Music styles may vary from service to service, but songs are always selected not for their melody but for the message they communicate.
  • You will not be asked to stand for the music, which allows those of us with older legs or health issues to remain seated and not feel conspicuous or uncomfortable in doing so.
  • Dress is casual.  We want there to be no barriers that would hinder your joining us for worship.
  • Visual outlines are utilized to assist in understanding and reviewing the message delivered each week.
